I explore the intersections of social class, subcultures, race, relationships, and gender not as abstract ideas, but as lived experiences deserving critique and celebration. My work challenges mainstream narratives while amplifying voices often overlooked in society.
Working across moving image, photography, installation, and performance, I blend humor with seriousness to reflect the complexities of contemporary life. I combine portraiture, documentary, and staged elements in my work, capturing fragmented identities and moments of tension. Stylized compositions, inspired by both documentary and narrative traditions, create space for humor, introspection, and nuance. Atmosphere and mood are created through natural and artificial lighting, and I keep sets and props minimal to allow human interactions to take center stage.
Judgment and dismissal often stem from misunderstanding. I encourage listening and connection over assumption, revealing common ground in unexpected places—like when the football superstar and the goth girl end up at prom together. My work reflects the messy, multifaceted nature of human experience, using contrast and disruption to challenge assumptions while fostering empathy.
Ultimately, I aim to spark dialogue, challenge preconceptions, and create spaces where people can connect, grow, and expand their understanding of the world.
